Once again it's March Madness...all the hoops you ever wanted to watch and more. It's usually my favorite time of year, but this year it is not the same.
I wrote a post on Father's Day about the man who gave me everything, he looked out for me and after me. He we was the first man I ever loved.
On March 17, 2014...I went to that man's funeral. My dad, a true Irishman with grandparents with the names of Crowley, O'Rourke, Condon and McDonald was laid to rest in St. Patrick's cemetery after a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church with his daughter Pat there.
Dressed in his old Army uniform, he was sent to meet my mom with pictures of his great grandchildren, his Honor Flight hat, his name tag introducing him as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and of course, a Syracuse basketball.
I wish you all could have spent just an hour with him. He was the greatest even until the end when he would not take morphine because he wanted to talk to his children and not sleep. I will never ever meet another man like him. As they say, God broke the mold when he was created.
Rest in Peace Dad....I miss you so much....
