In Honor of Our Veterans.
"The Network is our way of paying a small tribute to those who gave so much—a memorable, safe, and rewarding TOUR of HONOR"
(This is a country wide organization. If there is one in your area...you should look into it. They are looking for sponsors and companions. My brother was asked to come back again along with his wife who is a nurse. They need people who can help with older men/women and those with handicaps.)
On October 29, 2011, my brother had the honor of being my dad's companion on a flight from Rochester, NY to Washington, DC. It was quick...less than 48 hours, but the memories will last both of them a life time. They went to each War Memorial in DC and ended their trip at Arlington Cemetary at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was so meaningful for both of them. My dad was an Army man fought in the war. He was a sergeant one day and busted down to private the next. (he has this Irish temper you know) My brother was in the Navy...and his job was in the Honor Guard at Arlington standing watch at the Tomb and being part of the military funerals there. My cousin is a graduate of Annapolis and a F14 fighter pilot..served on the Nimitz and is now a Captain in the Navy Reserves. My nephew Jim is coming home for the holidays after 6 months in Afghanistan. My dad said that the best part of the entire trip was the welcome home they got. There were over 1000 people waiting at the airport, most in support of the Vietnam vets...finallay getting the welcome home they deserved. To each every one of them...thank you..for what you have done and what you are doing. I love you all so very much...
We call our 11th November ...Rememberance Day
