When I young, we always went on a picnic. My grandfather was one of 13 children so when we had a "family gathering" it was an event. There was a ton of food on the picnic table, and at the very end was the biggest chocolate cake you ever wanted to see. We went waiding in the creek at my cousins and yes, most of the time fell in. We would see who could spit a watermelon seed the furthest, and there was always a baseball game. Sometimes we even made home made ice cream. As the sun went down, the sparklers were handed out. My great uncle would move the "record player" close to the window and we would listen to all the old music. Us kids would kind of laugh at most of it, but then at the end of the night he would line us all up and make us sing along with Kate.
We use to have such a wonderful time..I miss those days.
May you all have a happy and safe 4th of July...
